Jessica Pierce was one of the first bioethicists to urge greater attention to the interconnections between health care systems, environmental degradation, and health and her early work stimulated the development of the sub-field of environmental bioethics. She is currently exploring the ethical challenges of climate change, resource use, sustainable health practices, and medical education. She writes extensively about the ethical contours of human-animal relationships, and about the complex interplay between science and ethics.
